How to Setup EDDM Mailing

Follow these steps to get your campaign up and running.

  • 1. Create a USPS Account

Setup your USPS EDDM here to get started.

  • 2. Select Your Routes

Choose carrier routes using the EDDM Mapping tool. You can select entire cities, individual neighborhoods or within a certain distance from your business. View census data about the target area to learn about the median age, income, and household size. Obtain the number of addresses and estimated postage costs.

  • 3. Create a Mailpiece

Avoid making a cluttered design with a confusing message. Develop a clear message with a simple aesthetic and eye-catching colors. Use Jakprints templates to ensure that you meet the artwork requirements and follow EDDM guidelines for placing address label and postage indicia in the right locations.

  • 4. Choose Your Drop Off Date

You can pay for your mailing at the Post Office ™ when you drop off your postcards. Select a date based on any promotional dates contained with your marketing materials. Consult your Jakprints CSR for print production turnaround to ensure that your order will be available for in time.

  • 5. Prepare Mailing Bundles

Bundle your mailing in stacks of 50-100 pieces. Bundles may not be higher than 6" tall. Jakprints can bundle your order for you and prepare your mailpieces ahead of time so they are ready for drop off.

  • 6. Fill Out Processing Forms

Prepare EDDM Forms and a Facing Slips to attach to the top of every bundle. If a customer requests to be removed from your mailings, include the customer's address in the "Do Not Deliver Address" column. Be sure to include the number of pieces in each bundle.

  • 7. Pay For Postage & Submit Mailing

You can pay online or at the Post Office ™ when you drop off your mailings. The Every Door Direct Mail-Retail price per piece for Flats weighing no more than 3.3 oz is $0.187.
