Soft Opaque Inks on Light Garments

A low impact, soft-feel option to Traditional Inks

Soft Opaque Inks use a minimal amount of plastisol base with a maximum amount of color resin compared to standard plastisol inks. When printed on white or light-colored garments the result is very bright with a soft-to-the-hand feel. Soft Opaque Inks also deliver terrific results on dark garments when printed with our Hybrid process (more under “Hybrid”, next section below).

Pricing for Soft Opaque Inks

There is no additional cost for Soft Opaque Inks. Simply specify them when you place your order. The sum of your printable products must be white or light in color.

Hybrid

Print bright colors on dark garments without losing the soft, natural feel of the fabric.

Jakprints offers a Hybrid printing process that allows you to print bright, Soft Opaque Inks over a variety of dark color 100% cotton garments. This option first removes the color from the garment where your graphic will be printed. The discharge base print removes the dye from the colored garment, creating a lighter (almost white) base for the print. This allows you to print bright colors on your dark garment without sacraficing style or comfort.

Discharge Inks

Softest Ink Option for Black & Dark Garments.

Discharge is an activator which is added to a water-based ink and, when printed, removes the garment’s color dye. Usually, this will result in a natural tobacco-like color. If tinted with a color resin, the discharge will remove and replace the garment's original color in a one-step process. Resulting color varies according to the original dye of the fabric. All discharge inks are printed on a select range of 100% cotton garments. Use this process if you want the softest possible option for black garments and want to print a design with softer edges and less detail. For a more photographic or high detail option we suggest using our hybrid printing process.

Water-Based Inks

The best choice for the environment.

Water-based inks produce ultra soft prints and are the most eco-friendly inks available. Water-based inks are used by organizations with a desire to maintain a green profile and fashion-oriented companies looking for a soft-to-the-hand feel. With the consistency of water and a translucent base, designing for these inks should be reserved for minimal detail and color printed on an organic fabric. Truly an ink for those looking to print green.
