Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which "stock" is right for me? What are the stocks?
Stocks are the substrate that we will be printing on. Different stocks are available depending on which product you are ordering. Unless you specify, white vinyl with lamination will be the default for a roll spot color sticker order, white vinyl with UV varnish will be the default for CMYK roll stickers.
Available Standard Stocks:
  • Matte Paper - The ideal choice if you need a sticker or label that you can print or type on. This is also the correct choice for producing shipping or mailing labels that need written on. Matte paper stock is available in white, yellow, red fluorescent, orange fluorescent, blue fluorescent, purple fluorescent, green fluorescent, pink fluorescent, and yellow fluorescent. We recommend only printing black ink on the fluorescent and yellow stocks. Not for outdoor use.
  • Gloss Paper - The same paper as the white matte, but with a lustrous, gloss finish. This stock can be written on with Sharpie's markers, but not ball point or rollerball pens. Gloss paper is available in white, yellow, and white with opaque adhesive which can be used as coverup stickers. We recommend printing with black ink on the yellow stock. Not for outdoor use.
  • Foil - These stocks have a mirror finish. Foil stocks are available in gold or silver. These do not have lamination on them and are not recommended for outdoor use.
  • Clear Polypropylene - This is a 2-mil clear film stock. Very similar to vinyl but a bit thinner and without lamination. This clear stock is normally used on the standard spot color prints. We normally provide a free white ink backer on this type of standard stock print. Not recommended for outdoor use.
  • Vinyl with lamination - Our most versatile stock. This is a 4-mil stock with a 1-mil poly film lamination for the highest possible gloss and added durability against scuffing and general wear and tear. The laminated vinyl is normally used with spot color prints and is available in white or yellow. We recommend printing with black ink on the yellow stock. This stock will hold up for short periods of time in weather. If you are interested in the more premium and more durable sticker product just ask about our custom screenprinted sticker products.
  • Clear Vinyl - This a clear stock with a medium level of durability. Our standard clear spot color bumper stickers are printed on this stock with a 1-mil lamination. Our standard clear CMYK stickers are printed on this stock with a UV varnish. The stock appears almost crystal clear. We normally provide a white ink backer at no charge on this type of standard product. Adhesive is available on either the face side or back side of the label.
  • White Vinyl with UV varnish - This is the stock that the standard white vinyl CMYK stickers are printed on. This stock has a medium level of durability. This stock works well as labeling and as a promo product too. The CMYK stickers are only available on white stock. If you are interested in the more premium and more durable sticker product just ask about our custom screenprinted sticker products.
Do your roll stickers and labels have perforations between each?
Yes! All of our roll stickers finish with perforations in the liner between each sticker unless you specify otherwise.
How many stickers come on each roll?
Most of the standard roll product sizes that you see on the Jakprints website will finish 500 per roll while some of the smaller sizes end up 1,000 per roll. Lower quantities per roll are available upon request but you may be subject to an up-charge per roll. Just note in the "Job Related Special Instructions" field how many sticker you need per roll.

Can you print custom Pantone color matches on my stickers or labels?
Yes! We are more than happy to print specific Pantone colors on your stickers or labels. There is a $50 up-charge per match per order for custom Pantone colors. Adding a custom Pantone match will increase your production turnaround by about 2 business days. The Pantone equivalents for our standard spot inks are listed on the sticker product pages. Please check to see if any of your specific color needs are listed there.
I have halftones in my artwork. Can I print them in my sticker design?
Yes! You can use halftones in your sticker artwork. Halftone screens are a great way to drop shadows, detail, and depth to a basic print. You can even use a halftone screen on a black ink print to make it look like a black and white picture. There is a one-time $40 up-charge for halftone screens on the spot color stickers. While there are some limitations on halftone screens they are one of the best ways to spice up your spot color print. Halftone screens do not add any time to your production turnaround.
I need a sticker that is 2' x 3' for the side of my work vehicle, does Jakprints produce that type of product?
Yes! We can produce wide format stickers. These are normally a digital CMYK print that works well in most applications including the sides of vehicles. This is normally finished with a lamination to help with durability as well. This is a custom product and would require a custom quote. To get your confirmed pricing on a wide format sticker product you can enter a quote request through the Jakprints website. Yes! We do offer opaque adhesive paper stickers. This is a white gloss paper stock that works wonders when you need to cover up existing informations. This stock is the same price as the other matte and gloss spot color products. The opaque adhesive is not available with CMYK printed stickers. Make sure to note that you are after Opaque Adhesive in the "Job Related Special Instructions" field of your order or quote form.

What if I don't want my stickers or labels to finish on a roll? Can you guys cut them down individually?
Yes! We can individually sheet your stickers and labels. There will be a $50 up-charge for individual sheeting. If you are interested in individual sheeting you will have to note that in the "Job Related Special Instructions" field of the quote or order form. Adding individual sheeting to a standard roll product will increase your production turnaround by about 2 business days.
Can you print on the back liner of the stickers and labels at Jakprints?
Yes! We can do back sheet printing, but your job will be considered custom. A "custom quote" is required before we can process an order with this type of request. Though it is possible to print other colors on the liner of a sticker most clients stay with black ink. We recommend staying with solid spot color artwork with no fades, gradients, or halftones, when printing on the liner of a sticker. To get your confirmed pricing you can enter a quote request through the Jakprints website by clicking on the "Get Quote" button at the top of the page. If you have any questions on this give us a call. We would be happy to help.

Can we use "bleed" on our sticker or label designs?
Yes! If you want the ink to print to the edge of your sticker or label, then please include an additional 1/8" of image area to each side when creating your art file. As an example if you are printing a 4" x 4" square sticker with bleed your final print-ready file will need to be 4.25" x 4.25". Since there is an 0.125" (1/8") on the top and bottom the height will increase by a 0.25". Likewise, as there needs to be an additional 0.125" on the left and right the width will increase by 0.25". For this 4" x 4" square example, you will want to keep anything that you want to see on the final sticker within the 4" x 4" area which would make up your cutline. You can use the templates that are available above to assist you in the layout of your file.
What is the safety area on sticker products at Jakprints?
The safety area is the distance within the cutline that you need to keep your main design elements that do not bleed off of the edge of the sticker. The standard flexographic roll stickers and bumper stickers which are listed on the Jakprints website would have a safety area of about 0.0625" which is 1/16". The custom screenprinted sticker products have a safety area of 0.125" which is an 1/8".
